By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Russia can provide Turkey with a discount on imported gas, believes Salihe Kaya, a research assistant at the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA).

She told Trend Feb. 3 that after a judgment has been recently passed by the International Court of Arbitration in favor of Turkey in a lawsuit against Iran over the gas prices, Moscow can provide Ankara with a discount not to lose the Turkish gas market.

Kaya added that Turkey is the second largest gas market for Russia after Germany.

The expert also doesn't rule out the possibility of Russia's recognizing the important role of Turkey on the global energy market.

She believes that Turkey and Russia will continue cooperating closely in the energy sector.

"Turkey and Russia can also resume talks on the Turkish Stream's construction," she said.
