Iran seeking Dutch cooperation on new oil terminals

The Iranian Oil Terminals Co. is going to seek cooperation from the Netherlands to refurbish its oil terminals, storage facilities, and Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems, the company's CEO Piruz Musavi said.

He stated the Netherlands' expertise will be used to develop Iran's Kharg Island terminal in particular, IRNA news agency reported May 23.

Musavi also announced that his company is in talks with companies from the Netherlands regarding health and safety provisions.

Kharg's is an oil terminal in the Persian Gulf, south of Iran, big enough to facilitate the simultaneous loading of five tankers.

Iran has been able to load over seven million barrels of oil on board tankers via the Kharg's.
