Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR drilled 86,580 meters in January-September 2016 versus 80,550 meters in the same period of 2015, said SOCAR in a message posted on its website Oct. 4.
Some 84,518 meters of the figure accounted for production drilling and 2,065 meters accounted for exploration drilling.
SOCAR commissioned 46 new wells in January-September 2016.
In 2015, SOCAR drilled 105,410 meters, which is 17.2 percent less than in 2014.
More than 104,400 meters drilled in 2015 accounted for production drilling and the rest accounted for exploratory drilling.
SOCAR commissioned 73 new wells in 2015.
