A major project is being implemented in order to improve reliability of power supply of Ashgabat city, the Turkmen state news agency reported Oct. 18.

Dozens of modern transformer substations have been built within this project, including 5 substations with voltage of 220 kV, 22 substations with voltage of 110 kV and 29 substations with voltage of 35 kV, said the report.

As many as 140 transformer and distribution substations with a voltage of 10 kV have been erected. Overhead and cable transmission lines have been laid to connect the new infrastructure facilities to the existing power system of the Turkmen capital.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Oct. 18 took part in the opening ceremony of Paytagt dispatch center of production association ‘Ashgabadenergo’ of the country’s Energy Ministry.

“Commissioning of the center will make it possible to carry out control over the stable operation of the power system of the capital, effectively manage power flows, coordinate the repair of electrical equipment, if necessary, and ensure the smooth operation of the appropriate energy facilities,” the Turkmen state news agency said.
