Gasoline prices up in Uzbekistan

The Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company of Uzbekistan announced about the increase of the retail prices for gasoline starting from October 23.

“The retail price for AI-80 car fuel has been set at 2,800 soums, the price for AI-91, AI-92, AI-93 car fuel has been set at 3,000 soums, and the price for AI-95 car fuel has been established at 3,300 soums (UZS) per liter since Oct. 23, 2016,” said the message posted on the official website of the Uzbekneftegaz company.

The official exchange rate for October 24 is 3,065 UZS/$1.

As a result, retail gasoline prices in Uzbekistan increased by more than 30 percent. The cost of one liter of AI-80 gasoline increased by 34.9 percent, to 2,800 soums from 2,075 soums, the price for AI-91, AI-92, AI-93 gasoline grew by 31.6 percent, to 3,000 soums from 2,280 soums, the price for AI-95 gasoline increased by 31.7 percent, to 3,300 soums from 2,505 soums.

The Uzbekneftegaz company reported that the new prices will be the same for all gas filling stations. Single gasoline prices have been set to fight the inflated prices at the gas filling stations and the resale of car fuel.

The Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company reported that it considered complaints of the Uzbek citizens about the overpricing at some gas filling stations, as well as long queues for car fuel.

The complaints regarding the fact that the price for AI-80 gasoline was 2,075 soums in Tashkent and 3,000 soums in the regions of Uzbekistan, illegal export of car fuel from the Uzbek capital by some citizens and its resale in the country’s regions for prices varying from 3,000 soums to 5,000 soums per liter were also considered by the Uzbekneftegaz company.
