Azerbaijani company Caspian Marine Services Ltd. has reached an initial agreement with the German company ER Offshore to buy two vessels worth at least $21 million, the Azerbaijani company told Trend.

The deal envisages purchasing of E.R.Stavanger and E.R.Aalesund supply vessels for the offshore oil platforms.

"The parties have only come to a primary agreement for the purchase of vessels. Negotiations on the completion of the deal are underway. If the agreement is signed, it will be necessary to carry out certain work for the delivery of vessels to the Caspian Sea," the company said.

The purchased vessels have not been involved in any operations for over a year now. Therefore, all mechanisms should be regulated and brought into operation.

The cost of the ships was reduced, the company said.

But taking into account the above-mentioned work, the final cost of each vessel will be at least $10.5 million, according to the Azerbaijani company.

"The company expects to use the new vessels outside the Caspian Sea as well," the company added.
