Iran ups gas supplies to Turkey

Iran exported 5.56 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Turkey in January-September 2016, as compared to 5.53 bcm in the same period of 2015, Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority said in a report published on its website Nov. 24.

In 2015, Iran exported 7.83 bcm of natural gas to Turkey, as compared to 8.93 bcm in 2014.

Turkey imported 32.97 bcm of gas in January-September 2016 and 27.4 bcm of this volume were imported via pipelines, while 5.57 bcm accounted for the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to the report.

Some 16.86 percent of Turkey’s total gas import accounted for Iran in January-September 2016.

Iranian gas is delivered to Turkey via the Tabriz-Ankara gas pipeline with the capacity of 14 bcm of gas per year.
