About 200 oil and gas fields have been discovered in Turkmenistan, said Atadurdy Berdiniyazov, head of the country’s Turkmengeology State Corporation.
He was addressing the international conference "Oil and Gas Turkmenistan 2016" that kicked off Dec. 7 in Ashgabat.
The program for the Turkmen oil and gas industry’s development, covering a period until 2030, envisages exploring more hydrocarbon reserves.
Several trillion cubic meters of natural gas have been explored, which will be sufficient to provide domestic consumers with gas for many years, as well as to export it abroad via the existing and projected pipelines, Berdiniyazov said.
