SOCAR-AQS LLC, an integrated drilling and well services provider established by Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company (SOCAR) and Absheron Drilling Company (AQS) in 2007, has completed the drilling of a new well at the Umid gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company told Trend.

“Drilling of the well #14 with an actual depth of 6,352 meters was started in June 2015 and was carried out from a fixed offshore platform #1,” the company said.

Eldar Yaradanquliyev, operational manager for deep wells at SOCAR-AQS, said that the Umid field is one of the most difficult in terms of work, and the pressure at the field is very high.

SOCAR reported the discovery of the Umid field in 2010. The field's reserves are more than 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate, according to SOCAR's estimates.
