Azerbaijan supplied 645.63 million kilowatt hours of electricity to Turkey in 2016, according to data of the Turkish Statistical Institute.
In total, Turkey imported 4.37 billion kilowatt hours of electricity worth $213.61 million in 2016.
“The supply of electricity to Turkey was carried out from Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia and Azerbaijan. Bulgaria’s share was 2.745 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, Greece’s share – 750.97 million kilowatt hours, Georgia’s share – 224.68 million kilowatt hours and 645.63 million kilowatt hours of electricity worth $34.09 million were imported from Azerbaijan in 2016,” says the report.
Azerbaijan started to export electricity through Georgia to Turkey on Feb. 7, 2016.
Earlier, Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) issued a license for the sale of electricity on its territory to the Azerbaijani side.
The electricity export is being carried out via the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey energy bridge.
