SOCAR-AQS LLC, integrated drilling and well services provider, has completed the one-time launch of a casing string with a weight of 530 tons during the drilling of a new exploratory well at the big Bulla Deniz gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company told Trend May 4.
SOCAR-AQS is drilling the exploratory well #78 with a projected depth of 5,900 meters from the new platform #6 at the Bulla Deniz field.
“Until now, the launch of a casing string has been carried out in several stages at deep wells, which often led to a loss of time, unnecessary costs and additional risks. For the first time in the history of the national drilling industry, thanks to the use of modern equipment and technologies, the casing string was successfully launched with one phase, as well as the cementing operation,” said Nariman Mustafayev, rig manager at SOCAR-AQS.
Mustafayev added that currently, preparation is underway for drilling the next section of the well.
SOCAR-AQS was established in 2007 by SOCAR and Absheron Drilling as a joint venture, rendering integrated services for drilling and well servicing.
Currently, the company conducts drilling work at the Gunashli, Western Absheron, Umid and Bulla Deniz fields.
