Plans on drilling wells at Azerbaijan’s West Absheron field revealed

KTIB Holding, based in Baku, plans to drill four wells at Azerbaijan’s West Absheron oil field in 2017, Trend learned from KTIB.

“We commenced drilling of wells at the platform #54 of West Absheron field on Aug.1. We plan to drill a total of nine wells, four of them being directional and five semi-horizontal,” said the message from KTIB.

The source in the company noted that currently, drilling work is underway at the well #7, the second one, at West Absheron.

“We will complete the drilling of four wells in 2017 and five wells in 2018. We will wrap up the work at the platform #54 approximately by June 15, 2018,” said the company.

The source noted that aside from drilling work, KTIB renders well completion services at the same platform.

“This year, we will put into operation three sets of equipment for well completion,” added the source.

Furthermore, the source said KTIB carries out geophysical survey in real time regime at each well on the customer’s request.

The Western Absheron field is owned by SOCAR’s Absheronneft Oil & Gas Extraction Department.
