French Suez Groupe is ready to deliver more works and services if needed by BP as part of the implementation of the project for maintenance of instrumentation of Sangachal terminal, located 55km south of Baku, the company’s country manager for Azerbaijan Alain Carbonel told Trend.

"Suez Groupe has been collaborating with BP at its entire satisfaction since 2005. Our group built the treatment plant for produced water in Sangachal terminal in 2008-2009. Since 2010, we have a team present 24/365 to control and maintain the instrumentation of this plant and of other installations of BP in Sangachal,” said Carbonel. “We have been delivering also some additional works to the request of BP in Sangachal since 2010 and are ready to deliver more works and services if needed by BP."

He noted that aside from this project, currently Suez is working in three activities in Azerbaijan: training and know-how transfer services for AZERSU; execution of two projects for AZERSU (one regarding the reduction of losses in the water network, another one regarding the possibility of producing energy from the sludge produced in the Hovsan wastewater treatment plant) and feasibility study of the rehabilitation of the Western part of the Lake Boyuk Shor (after having completed a feasibility study for the North East part of the Lake) for the state agency Tamiz Shahar.

“Our future plans are to make some concrete realizations in the fields of water, wastewater, waste collection and treatment services for state agencies or industrial clients according to their needs and to the results of tenders or consultations,” added Carbonel.

The Sangachal terminal is a vital link in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas industry. It is an oil and gas terminal that receives, processes, stores and exports crude oil and gas produced from all currently operated BP assets in the Caspian basin.

BP is the operator of the terminal.

At present, the total capacity of the terminal’s technical processing systems makes up 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, and for the gas from the Shah Deniz field - 29.5 million cubic meters per day (together with associated gas from Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil and gas fields, the total gas processing capacity at the terminal is 49.3 million cubic meters per day).
