First branch of Kandym gas processing plant’s pipeline commissioned in Uzbekistan

On Nov. 3, 2017, Russia’s Lukoil company, five months ahead of schedule, has commissioned in Uzbekistan the first branch of gas pipeline of the Kandym gas processing plant designed to process 4.05 billion cubic meters of gas per year, Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.

At the same time, work is underway to build the second branch of the gas pipeline of the Kandym gas processing plant, and it is planned to complete the work in July 2018.

The plant is designed to process hydrogen sulfide-containing natural gas from the Kandym group of fields located in the Bukhara region. At the plant, it is planned to obtain 7.9 billion cubic meters of purified natural gas, 134,400 tons of stable gas condensate, and 212,900 tons of lumpy and granular sulfur.

As a result of the project’s implementation, 2,125 new jobs will also be created.

Lukoil has been operating in Uzbekistan on the basis of production sharing agreements since 2004.
