The cost of local supplies within the SOCAR Polymer project exceeds 4.5 million euros, Senior Vice President of Maire Tecnimont Gianni Bardazzi said at the fourth international conference “Oil refining and petrochemistry of the Caspian Sea and Central Asia” in Baku Nov. 28.
Maire Tecnimont is the EPC contractor of the SOCAR Polymer project in Azerbaijan.
Bardazzi said that at present the Azerbaijani office of KT - Kinetics Technology S.p.A., a subsidiary company of Maire Tecnimont, is carrying out coordination activities to assist local companies in improving the efficiency of work with international EPC contractors.
He added that interrelation with local suppliers, contractors, local authorities and local partners enables KT - Kinetics Technology to implement the project on time and achieve the goals of the SOCAR Polymer project.
Total cost of SOCAR Polymer is $750 million. The project is being implemented in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park (SCIP). At the first stage, its production capacity will total 120,000 tons of polyethylene and 180,000 tons of polypropylene. The total capacity may reach 570,000 tons by 2021.
