Turkey imported 28.64 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in 2017 as compared to 24.54 billion cubic meters in 2016, says a report posted on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The report says that Turkey imported 55.2 billion cubic meters of gas in 2017, of which 44.43 billion cubic meters were imported via pipelines and 10.76 billion cubic meters accounted for import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Russia’s share in Turkey’s total import of gas was 51.9 percent in 2017.

Russia supplies gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream and Trans-Balkan pipelines. Blue Stream is a major trans-Black Sea gas pipeline with a capacity of 16 billion cubic meters per year that carries natural gas from Russia into Turkey.
