A comprehensive approach to designing of buildings of Azerbaijan's state-owned SOCAR within new construction projects will reduce the amount of energy spent on heating by 40-50 percent, SOCAR vice-president for ecology Rafiga Huseynzade said at a conference following the signing of a protocol of intent with UNDP on March 6.

Thanks to the application of improved design methods until 2029, the annual energy consumption will decrease from 300 kilowatt-hours to 175 kilowatt-hours, she said.

"As part of realization of the project on increasing energy efficiency in buildings of SOCAR Recycling Center, in the "Gala" ecological park and buildings of Azerikimya PA, reconstruction work was carried out, which resulted in a 20 percent decrease in energy costs," Huseynzade said.
