Saudi Arabia supports TAPI gas pipeline project

The Saudi Fund for Development supports construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud said in a letter to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In his letter, the King of Saudi Arabia said he warmly accepted the Turkmen president’s gratitude message for the support provided by the Saudi Fund for Development in the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline.

The King of Saudi Arabia also stressed commitment to strengthening of cooperation with Turkmenistan in all areas.

It was earlier reported that Saudi companies are ready to supply materials needed for the project.

Total length of the TAPI gas pipeline will be 1,840 kilometers. Construction of the Turkmen section of the TAPI gas pipeline began in December 2015.

Construction of the Afghan section of the TAPI gas pipeline started Feb. 23, 2018.
