By Maksim Tsurkov – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR produced 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas from the country’s offshore and onshore fields using its own funds in January-March 2018, as compared to 1.46 billion cubic meters of gas produced in the same period of 2017, said a message posted on SOCAR’s website.

The gas production in the country increased by 8 percent in January-March 2018 compared to the same period of 2017.

Along with its own production, SOCAR also gets gas from the Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (associated gas) fields by developing these fields together with foreign partners.

The total volume of gas produced from those fields and independently developed ones was 7.3 billion cubic meters in January-March 2018, as compared to 6.9 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2017. The gas production in the country increased by 5.2 percent.

"Positive dynamics in SOCAR’s gas production is associated with an increase in drilling operations, efficient operation of existing wells and restoration of inactive wells," the message said.

The gas production increased by 12 percent in March.

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR produced 6.09 billion cubic meters of gas from the country’s offshore and onshore fields using its own funds in 2017, as compared to 6.27 billion cubic meters of gas produced in 2016.

The total volume of gas produced from those fields and independently developed ones was 28.6 billion cubic meters in 2017, as compared to 29.37 billion cubic meters in 2016.

SOCAR includes such production unions as Azneft (enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (the chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas produced in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
