Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has inspected construction of a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas, which is being built in the country’s Ahal region, the Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.

The mentioned plant will be the first gas chemical complex in the world that produces high-quality, environmentally friendly gasoline based on the processing of natural gas, the report said.

The plant’s construction project is being implemented by a consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan) and Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Turkey) Companies. The plant is planned to be launched in December 2018.

The plant is designed to annually process 1.785 billion cubic meters of natural gas and produce 600,000 tons of A-92 gasoline, which meets Euro 5 standards.

It is also planned to produce 12,000 tons of diesel fuel and 115,000 tons of liquefied gas per year.

The total cost of the project is almost $1.7 billion. About 1,500 jobs will be created once the plant is commissioned.

Transportation by rail and then by sea, through the recently launched International Sea Port in Turkmenbashi city, is the most economically profitable type of export supplies of Turkmen synthetic gasoline, according to the report.
