At the end of April 2018, the reconstruction and modernization of the Ethylene-polyethylene plant at Azerikimya Production Association (PA) of the Azerbaijani state company SOCAR was carried out by 36 percent, Deputy Executive Director for investment and development of Azerikimya PA Orkhan Jafarov stated during the 25th Anniversary International Caspian Oil & Gas Conference in Baku May 31.
He noted that, during the reporting period, engineering work was completed by 90.1 percent, procurement work – by 49.6 percent, and construction work – by 15.7 percent.
All necessary equipment and materials will be delivered by October 2018, Jafarov added.
He reminded that the plant will be put into operation after the reconstruction in 1Q2020.
"As a result of the project, ethylene production will grow from the current 100-105,000 tons to 192,000 tons per year, and the production of propylene - from 50-55,000 to 187,000 tons per year. Also, the life of the plant will be extended for 20 years," Jafarov said.
