Turkmenistan negotiating new gas chemical projects

It is planned to build a gas chemical complex for the production of polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, as well as caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, liquid chlorine in the village of Kiyanly on the Caspian coast of Turkmenistan, the State Concern Turkmengas said in a statement.

This major investment project is planned to be implemented together with foreign partners.

Currently, the proposals received from the participants of the international tender including well-known world companies from Italy, Japan, South Korea are being analyzed, the message says.

In addition, a project is being developed for the construction in Kiyanly of a plant for production of methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) through processing of 4,000 tons of ethylene gas and 2,000 tons of methanol per year.

Intermediate products of nearby gas chemical complexes will be used as raw materials.

The construction of a gas chemical complex worth more than $3.4 billion has entered the final stage. This project is implemented by the State Concern "Turkmengas" together with South Korean LG, Hyundai companies and Japanese TOYO Corporation.

The commissioning of the enterprise will allow for producing annually 381,000 tons of polyethylene, 81,000 tons of polypropylene and other valuable products, as well as to receive up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of commercial gas, which is planned to be delivered to the gas pipeline systems for use as fuel.

The high prospects of this project are confirmed by the fact that the largest credit and financial institutions of Japan, Germany, France, South Korea, China, Italy, Austria and Switzerland participate in its financing.
