Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Oct. 4

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Road bitumen produced at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR) became an export item this year, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Oct. 4.

About 35,000 tons of this product was sold through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan. About 7,000 tons of the raw material for the production of asphalt concrete were shipped by rail to Uzbekistan, the report said.

The demand for Turkmen bitumen is related to improving its quality through the use of a new vacuum unit and other technologies at the plant.

It was earlier reported that an innovative project was implemented at the Seydi Oil Refinery, a part of the TCOR, in the east of Turkmenistan. In accordance with contracts signed with the Westport Trading Europe Limited, a unit for production of road bitumen, with a capacity of over 37,000 tons per year, was launched.

For Turkmenistan, this is the first unit, the work of which is based on visbreaking of crude oil, which allows processing heavy oil residues.

Turkmenistan plans to increase the capacity of oil refining industry to 30 million tons in 2030. At this stage, more than 10 million tons of crude oil are processed domestically.
