The dispatching director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said the country plans to launch more phases of the huge South Pars gas field project in the Persian Gulf by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21).
More phases of the South Pars gas field are scheduled to come on stream by the year-end, Mehdi Jamshidi Dana said, Shana news agency reported recently.
With the launch of the new phases and more production at the field, we will have a more stable gas network in the coming winter, he added.
“Some phases are also receiving maintenance work and will have higher output in the cold season,” Jamshidi Dana said.
The South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
