In 2019, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline is planned to transport 30.9 million tons of oil, which is 2 percent more than the forecast figure for 2018, the concept and forecast indicators of the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan for 2019 and the next three years stated.
It is expected that, in 2018, 30.3 million tons of oil will be transported through the pipeline.
Then in the next two years, the volume of oil transportation will be gradually increased to 31.3–31.2 million tons in 2020–2021, and in 2022 a slight reduction is predicted (to 30.5 million tons).
In total, 41.3 million tons of oil will be transported through the country's oil pipelines in 2019 (an increase of 1.7 percent compared with the forecast figures for 2018). In 2020, this figure is expected to reach 41.8 million tons, in 2021 - 41.9 million tons and in 2022 - 41.8 million tons.
Total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil May 18, 2005.
