The number of contracts for constructing power plants working on renewable energy in Iran has increased, as local and foreign investors show a great interest in this sphere, said member of the Board of Directors of Iran Renewable Energy Association Hassan Ghafouri.

As much as 47 percent of foreign investments made in Iran account for the renewable energy sphere, Tehran news quoted him as saying.

“The interest in Iran’s renewable energy sphere has increased. Foreign investments in this sphere have been made in Iran’s Yazd, Tehran, Esfahan, Sistan and Baluchistan provinces,” he said.

Ghafouri went on to add that local and foreign investments have been primarily made in the provinces with reasonable prices for electricity.

“There are five power plants in Hamadan, which attracted investments from Austria, Germany and France in 2016 and 2017. Investors have signed contracts with Iran on electricity supply. The electricity generated by foreign companies in Iran is sold to the country’s power grid,” he said.
