By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:
Uzbekistan will begin modernization of gas transmission system and introduction of SCADA in 2019, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media.
The statement was made by Akmal Eshonkulov, head of the management of gas pipelines and facilities of Uztransgaz, on the sidelines of a press conference in Tashkent.
“The project has been approved by the president, and we will begin its implementation next year. So far, we have not decided who will act as a foreign partner in its implementation. The company, in the prescribed manner, will announce and conduct a tender selection. The goal is to complete the project until 2021. The total cost of the project will exceed $1.5 billion,” said Eshonkulov.
According to him, the introduction of SCADA will reduce losses in gas pipelines by at least 7 percent, as well as automate all management processes.
In May 2018, Uzbekneftegaz signed a memorandum of understanding with the US company Honeywell/UOP on cooperation in the SCADA project.
In addition, the modernization of the gas transmission system is being discussed with Baker Hughes, whose president recently visited Tashkent.
In the further development of the oil and gas sector until 2030, Uzbekistan intends to implement 30 investment projects worth $36.5 billion in geological exploration, production and deep processing of hydrocarbons.
