Petronas seeking new opportunities to co-op with Azerbaijan

Petronas, a Malaysian oil and gas company, is looking for the opportunity and possibility to implement new projects in Azerbaijan, Khamizan Johari, the company’s financial manager told Trend.

“We are in a close relationship with Azerbaijan’s oil company SOCAR and assessing offers,” Johari said.

He reminded about the company's participation in the Shah Deniz 2 project and added that next year the company will continue the work in this direction.

Speaking of the plans on a global scale, the company representative said that currently, the company has significant projects in Canada and Mexico.

Petronas owns a 15.5 percent stake in the Shah Deniz gas field development project and in the South Caucasus gas pipeline.

The company, founded on 17 August 1974, is engaged in a wide spectrum of petroleum activities, including upstream exploration and production of oil and gas to downstream oil refining, marketing and distribution of petroleum products, trading, gas processing and liquefaction, gas transmission pipeline network operations, marketing of liquefied natural gas, petrochemical manufacturing and marketing, shipping, automotive engineering and property investment.
