Tehran, Iran, Dec.29
Trend:
Iran's Kish Gas Field is to produce 3 billion cubic meters of gas that would be equal to the output of three phases of South Pars gas field, the Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company Mohammad Meshkin-Fam said, Trend reports citing ILNA.
He went on to add that Pars Oil and Gas Company is to develop Kish Gas Field with help from foreign or domestic companies.
"So far no decision has been made over the contractors, foreign and domestic companies have applied for development of the field. The issue must be reviewed and coordinated with the Oil Ministry," he explained.
“In this project, we are the employer and the contractors will be either domestic or foreign companies," Meshkin-Fam said.
He went on to add that because of potential and technical knowledge, Pars Oil and Gas Company was assigned to work on the project by the Oil Ministry.
The 200-km distance between Kish Island and Oman, as well as its distance to Dubai, has put the island in a good position for exporting gas to the southern Persian Gulf states.
Kish Gas Field is located below Kish Island in Persian Gulf, it has been under development since 2012. The field was discovered in 2006 by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and is the world’s fifth biggest offshore gas field.
