Tehran, Iran, April 18

Trend:

Iran has about 70 billion barrels of oil reserves of 4,000 meters underwater in West Karoun, while the field's production now amounts to 350,000 barrels a day.

“We were trying to maintain the production level despite the recent flood,” Deputy CEO of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Co. Touraj Dehghani said during his visit to the West Karoun oil facilities in Hurolazim, Trend reports citing ILNA.

“Except for about 10 to 12 wells that we stopped due to rising water levels, we do not worry about the production process,” he added.

"We do not have official reports, but we are not behind them," he said speaking about the amount of oil produced by Iraqi side in common fields and the impact caused by the flood on Iran's production in those fields.

"About 10 percent of Hurolazim is under water, which is nearly 98 percent of the area," he added.

Touching upon the development of the fields, he said, "We have about 70 billion barrels of oil reserves at a depth of 4,000 meters underwater in the west of Karoun and expect that the production reaches more than one million barrels a day."

He continued by adding, "We have been negotiating with China's Sinopec for the development of the Yadavaran field, and we have been negotiating with the CNTC for development of North Azadegan.”
