The managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Montazer Torbati has announced that one of the most important plans of the next year for the National Iranian Gas Company is to increase LPG sales in international markets, Trend reports via NIGC official website.

The NIGC website quoted Torbati as saying that the volume of LPG produced by the National Iranian Gas Company is significant, and the company is the first and the largest producer of LPG in the country.

"We are able to provide significant amount of this product to the global markets," he said.

“Luckily, the concerns of the lack of gas in winter and the weaknesses of the network during the last year, are almost resolved,“ said Torbati.

"The issue of proper planning for the gas production of new South Pars phases in the next year is one of the most important issues,” he said. "The next issue, which is, in fact, very important, is the issue of company's costs analysis, because I feel that our current costs have a chance to be re-evaluated."

According to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, Iran ranks first in the world in terms of natural gas reserves and the country holds around 18 percent of total proven natural gas reserves globally.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), natural gas currently supplies 22 percent of the world’s energy needs, and accounts for nearly a quarter of electricity generation worldwide, it is used and transported in various forms including Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as well as through pipelines.
