Japan negotiates with Turkmenistan on cooperation in fuel and energy sectors

Turkmenistan and Japan are holding a regular joint meeting of the committees on economic cooperation in Ashgabat on May 23, Trend reports referring to a source close to the negotiations.

The delegation from Tokyo is headed by Yoichi Kobayashi, Vice Chairman of Japan’s Itochu Corporation. The meeting addresses issues of increasing the volume of trade, creating joint ventures in various fields, and stimulating investment activity.

The possibility of implementing large projects in oil, gas and chemical industries is being evaluated, along with the further cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The parties also discuss the supply of agricultural equipment and automobiles from Japan. There are great prospects for cooperation in the spheres of transport, communication, logistics, agriculture, and other areas, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency noted in its earlier comments.
