By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Production at Azerbaijan’s Absheron gas field is expected to start-up in 2021 and should reach around 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, including condensates, a source in the country’s oil and gas market told Trend.

The source noted that the gas will be sold to Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR for use in the local market and will help meet domestic demand.

The condensate will be delivered to Turkey, via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, added the source.

SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement in 2016 on the main contractual and commercial principles regulating the first phase of development of the Absheron field.

Absheron’s reserves are estimated at 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate, according to estimations of the Total specialists.
