Trend:

Major overhaul is currently ongoing at phase 12 of the South Pars gas field, while the equipment for the 9th refinery is to be provided by domestic companies, said deputy of the refinery.

"All the refinery units have gone for general overhaul, and the necessary repair at the 9th refinery is underway since June 27. Every phase is to be overhauled in ten days," Mehdi Zendehboudi said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Implementing the necessary overhaul in three phases of the 9th refinery will take 30 days. The overhaul of the fifth and sixth gas sweetening row completed last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), while repair works for the first, second, third and fourth rows have been nearly completed. The repair of fifth and sixth rows will be performed subsequently," he noted.

"Around 600 workforce have been used for overhaul in current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019). The volume of the work is more complex and diverse comparing to past four years. About 216 pieces of equipment to go under necessary repair in the 9th refinery," Zendehboud added.

"We are obliged to use domestic contractors, and all the parts are being provided domestically. Parts and equipment such as gearbox, fans, sweetening unit is produced in central factory. The domestic companies are repairing various valves of the refinery, and specific parts of turbines in the 9th refinery are provided and installed by domestic companies," he said.

"The 9th refinery is twice as big as other refineries operated by South Pars Gas Company. While other refineries produce around 50 million cubic meters gas per day, phase 12 produces more than 90 million cubic meters gas per day. The current volume of gas condensate and sulfur production at the phase 12 is 70 percent more than at other refineries," he added.
