Uzbekistan, China launch new cascade of small HPP

Uzbekistan and Chinese Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) launched a new cascade of small hydropower stations (HPP) on the Grand Fergana Canal, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

The cascade consists of two small hydropower plants, each of which has a capacity of 6 MW. It can produce 72.8 million kW/h of electricity annually. This will allow for continuously providing 48,000 apartments of the district with clean and renewable electricity.

The total cost of the project is $31 million, $22.3 million of which is the contribution of the Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, and the rest amount is allocated by Eximbank of China.

Dongfang Electric Corporation is one of the backbone enterprise groups directly supervised by Chinese Central Government.

DEC is one of the world largest power generating equipment manufacturers and international project contractors. Presently, the accumulative output capacity of DEC has outnumbered 500GW, while yearly output topping the world for 14 consecutive years.
