Tehran, Iran, July 31

Trend:

Iran and Belarus have agreed to barter oil in exchange of goods with the vision of future bilateral cooperation and joint investments, said the member of Tehran Chamber of Commerce.

Mohammad Reza Najafi Manesh discussed the recentvisit of the delegation of representatives of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture to Belarus in an interview with Trend.

In his words, many countries would like to trade with Iran, and Belarus is not an exception. "At the meetings in Belarus, some local companies expressed willingness to barter goods in exchange of Iranian oil. Their proposals were submitted to the Iranian Embassy in Belarus for consideration," he said.

"Since the US, Brian Hook and his team seek to create obstacles for Iran oil sales, it's not appropriate to discuss details of agreements between Iran and Belarus," he noted referring to the recent statement by U.S. Special Representative for Iran and Senior Policy Advisor to Secretary of State Brian Hook that the U.S. will sanction any countries that import Iranian oil.

"The Belarusian side has expressed readiness to invest in Iran, and we need to continue talks to reach result," he added. "For example, they are interested in making joint investments in the auto sector and in purchasing goods from Iran."

"Preliminary agreements were reached on bartering goods in exchange of oil, investments of Belarus in Iran and Iranian investments in Belarus, and trade between the two countries," he said speaking about the results of the meetings.

"Although these agreements can be affected by the US sanctions and no one can provide precise information, I can say that private sectors of the two countries intend to cooperate," he added.

A delegation of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture led by Head of the Chamber of Commerce Masoud Khansari visited Belarus to participate in Iran-Belarus Business Forum held in the Belarusian capital of Minsk. During the four-day visit, Iranian delegation also conducted meetings and talks on developing trade relations with representatives of Belarus Chamber of Commerce, the country private sector and business community.
