Tabriz Oil Refining Co. in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province has increased its daily production of petrol in accordance with Euro 5 standard to 3.5 million liters, Gholamreza Bagheri Dizaj, CEO of the company, said during the launching ceremony of the company’s new projects attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on August 1, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

According to him, the quality of nearly a third of the diesel produced by the company (2.5 million liters a day) has been also raised to the Euro 5 standard with the execution of the new diesel processing project.

Bagheri Dizaj added that with the implementation of improvement projects, including the TGT, PSA and Cooling Tower projects, all diesel produced by the company will be compliant with the Euro 5 standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said that production of gasoline in accordance with Euro emission standard will amount to 74 million liters a day in August 2019.

"Average gasoline production, which was at six million liters a day in 2012, has reached 107 million liters in July 2019 and shall amount to 110 million liters in August this year,” he added.

Stressing that the new projects are a major move by the government on addressing environmental issues, Zanganeh noted that the process could be complemented by the restriction of the use of old and defective vehicles in cities and metropolises.

In his words, the environmental project at Isfahan Refinery will be implemented by the end of the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019). "More than $1 billion is being invested in the Isfahan Petrochemical Project for production of 17 million liters of diesel according to Euro 1 and Euro 2 emission standards,” he said.

Both the oil and diesel quality improvement project and the oil production project of the Tabriz Oil Refining Co. have been commissioned with an investment of 54.15 trillion rials (app. $1.28 billion).
