The plans for the construction of gas distribution networks of Kyzylorda-Zhezqazghan-Temirtau-Nur-Sultan main pipeline in Kazakhstan have been disrupted, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

The minister noted that in accordance with the roadmap, it was expected that the construction will start in April 2019 and will be completed by December 2019, so the networks will be put into operation; however, the construction itself will start in December.

The representative of akimat (administrative center) of Nur-Sultan Yermek Kizatov said that currently, the money has been allocated, the design and budget documentation of launch facilities which provide citizens with gas has been developed.

“Some 4.7 billion tenge of budget money have been allocated this year. Currently, we are almost done with procurement process. We expect to sign the contract before the end of September and then we’ll start the work. The entire allocated sum will be used,” he noted.

The situation with heat power plants 1 and 2 is much more complicated, he said. The design and design documentation of these plants has just been finished and is currently under the state review.

“We hope for the documentation to be approved before the end of September. Following the approval we will start the process of contractor selecting,” Kizatov said.

In turn, Bozumbayev mandated the akimat to return a part of the allocated sum after deciding on the sum of money necessary for construction. The returned sum is to be reallocated to regions, which are more prepared to use the money for gas supply process.

“I ask akimat of Nur-Sultan to develop a new roadmap with new relevant construction timeline and to submit to the Ministry of Energy,” Bozumbayev said.

Saryarka pipeline starts from Beyneu-Bozoy-Shymkent pipeline. The main construction work is to be finished by the end of 2019 and the commissioning is planned for 2020. The 1,061 kilometers long pipeline will provide 171 settlements with gas. Currently, 780 kilometers of the pipeline have been already welded, and the project is 74 percent ready.

Kazakhstan’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna JSC is participating in the funding of the project, KazStroyService JSC is the contractor of the project and Astana Gas is the operator.
