SOCAR AQS, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan's state-owned company SOCAR, has successfully completed the construction of well № 65 with an actual depth of 815 meters at the West Absheron oil field, Trend reports referring to the company.
The client was Azneft Production Union, engaged in the development of oil and gas deposits on land and at sea.
The company conducted comprehensive research in the well for the first time, which provided material for revealing the full potential of the West Absheron field.
As a result of geological and geophysical studies, pressures in the reservoir were measured, core samples were taken from different intervals, reservoir permeability was studied, and oil and gas saturation of productive horizons was specified.
The data of geological and geophysical studies at the West Absheron field will prevent potential geological complications during well drilling and development, and select the correct operating mode. As a result, the drilling company expects to improve gas condensate production at the field.
SOCAR AQS was established in 2007 by SOCAR and Absheron Drilling as a joint venture providing integrated drilling and well services.
The company has been a member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) since 2009.
The shareholders of the enterprise are SOCAR, Nobel Oil Services and Absheron Drilling Company.
