Over 50 manufacturers and contractors representing about 50 countries are participating in the modernization of Azerikimya Production Union in Azerbaijan, a source in Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR told Trend.
The source noted that the main purpose of the modernization is to extend the life of the EP-300 unit, operated as part of the Ethylene-Propylene Plant for over 20 years, as well as to increase the reliability and efficiency of production capacity of the existing facilities.
The source added that TechnipFMC acts as a general contractor in the modernization.
“SOCAR-KBR, a joint venture between SOCAR and KBR, is the consultant on the management of projects,” the source said.
Companies such as FLUOR, Clifford Chance and Ustay also participate in the project.
Azerikimya became subordinate to SOCAR in 2010. The production union includes the ethylene-propylene plant, consisting of EP-300 and Polymer-120 units, an isopropyl alcohol production unit, and a steam and electric power production unit, as well as a repair and construction department.
