The economic sanctions are a blessing for the country's economic development and "a goodbye" to the oil-dependent economy, said the deputy minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, Abbas Ghobadi.

“It is essential to say goodbye to the oil-dependent economy, relying on internal knowledge and resource management,” Ghobadi said in a meeting with West Azerbaijan Province officials, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The government has made every effort to boost national production and has a strong determination to regulate the market," he said.

Referring to the special economic potentials of West Azerbaijan Province, Ghobadi stated that proper and expert export of grape as a potential for West Azerbaijan Province can lead to economic development of the region, but unfortunately no action has been taken in this regard.

"Unfortunately, despite all the prominent economic potential in the province, the issue of employment and development is lower than the national average, which is unacceptable," said Ghobadi.

The representative of the Urmia Chamber of Commerce praised the production units for resisting the imposed economic war against Iran by US.

“Resisting external pressures and relying on domestic production would pave the way for the current difficult economic situation,” the representative of the Urmia Chamber of Commerce Shams Molavi said during the meeting with deputy minister.

Meanwhile, the head of the West Azerbaijan Industrial House also stated that the corruption occurs in granting the bank facilities to production units.

"We have to admit that a bank in Tehran has been able to provide three times the total amount of banking facilities in West Azerbaijan, which should be investigated," he said.

"There should be no decisions made by some rent-seeking factories that will affect the entire Iranian economy and destroy it,” he said.
