The Chinese company Liaoning Leader plans to build a wind farm in the Gijduvon district of the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media Sept. 24.

It is reported that as part of implementation of the first phase of construction, 120-meter masts for measuring wind speed have been installed. Some 6,000 hectares of land have been allocated to Liaoning Leader for the implementation of the project.

This is not the first project in the field of wind energy. Earlier it became known that Turkey’s Etko Co Enerji AS will build a power plant in Boysun town in Uzbekistan. The plant with a capacity of 600 MW is planned to be commissioned before 2020.

Also, last year it was reported that the German company Siemens will build its first wind farm in Uzbekistan in Zarafshan city. The project was estimated at $100 million, and the wind farm’s capacity - at 100 MW.
