By Mirsaid Ibrahimzade – Trend:

Kazakhstan does not yet have sufficient volumes of non-reserved oil at the Kashagan, Tengiz and Karachaganak fields for oil transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, but oil from other Kazakh fields could be supplied via BTC, Kazakh Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev told reporters in Baku.

Bozumbayev made the remarks at the 16th meeting of the joint Azerbaijani-Kazakh intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, Trend reports on Oct. 9.

The minister said that so far an increase in oil production is connected with the three main fields of the country, namely, Kashagan, Tengiz and Karachaganak fields.

"We expect to increase oil production in 2022-2023 at the Tengiz field by 12-13 million tons per year as the project of expanding the Tengiz project is being implemented," Bozumbayev said.

The minister stressed that the volumes of oil pumped through the BTC from other Kazakh fields could reach from one million tons to 3-4 million tons per year.
