By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Representatives of the transport sector of Georgia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Ukraine agreed to create a working group that optimizes tariffs for the transport of goods by rail and sea from China to Europe, Trend reports via the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

“The working group will include specialists from specific industries. Today, in fact, the ports have their own tariffs, and the railroads have their own. We need to combine private and public services under one platform and switch to transportation of goods without documents, only using computer information, which ultimately will reduce transportation time by at least 20 percent, and also optimize costs," said Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Akaki Sagirashvili.

"An agreement on this has been reached with Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Belarus,” said Sagirashvili.

Sagirashvili did not give specific dates for the start of the work of the working group, but expressed hope that Bulgaria, Romania and Kazakhstan would join the initiative in the near future.
