New platforms installed as part of phases 23 and 24 of Iran’s South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar), which is Iran’s joint gas field with Qatar, will increase gas production in Iran by 28.3 million cubic meters (1 billion cubic feet) per day, Acting Deputy Director of the development project of phases 22 to 24 of South Pars Gas Field Ali Asghar Sadeghi said, Trend reports referring to Iran’s Young Journalists Club (YJC).

Sadeghi noted that platform of phase 23B was installed Nov. 12, and after 3 days, the platform of phase 24B was installed.

The acting deputy director added that the gas produced as part of phases 22, 23 and 24 will be transported to the coast by a 32-inch pipeline and sent to Iran’s gas processing plants.

Sadeghi noted that installation of these platforms in a short time is a big success for Iran.

It is planned to extract 56 million cubic meters of sour gas, 75,000 cubic meters of gas condensate, 400 tons of sulfur on daily basis, as well as 1.05 million tons of LPG and one million tons of ethane on annual basis from the phases 22 to 24 of the South Pars gas field.

The South Pars field is located on the Iran-Qatar maritime border, therefore it is shared by the two countries. The Qatari share of the field is called North Dome. The field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas and 36 trillion cubic meters of it are considered recoverable.
