By Fakhri Vakilov-Trend:

Saryarka gas pipeline in Kazakhstan will be commissioned on December 31, as stated by Kazakh’s Vice Minister of Energy Murat Zhurebekov, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

"The work is carried out on schedule. In December this year, the construction of all facilities will be completed, including a gas pipeline, five automated gas distribution stations (AGDS), a gas metering station and a control point. The gas pipeline will be put into operation on December 31," said Zhurebekov at a press conference on November 20.

According to him, today about 1,700 specialists and 1,000 units of special equipment are involved in the work; 1,061 km or 100 percent of the linear part of the pipeline were welded and laid; 963 km or 91 percent of the gas pipeline were tested.

It was noted that the work for gas pipelines and five AGDS is completed by 96.5 percent and for a gas metering station is 91 percent.

The construction of the main gas pipeline to Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan will make it possible to gradually supply gas to 171 settlements along the gas pipeline route.

To connect to the Saryarka gas pipeline, administrations of the cities of Nur-Sultan, Karaganda and Akmola region must have built gas distribution networks.

"The construction of gas distribution networks in Nur-Sultan is divided into three phases with interim construction dates until 2025," Zhurebekov said. According to the capital’s administration, the construction of the first stage is scheduled for completion by the next heating-winter period in the fall of 2020.

In December 2018, the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, launched the construction of the Saryarka gas pipeline. The total length of the highway is 1,061 kilometers; it runs along the Kyzylorda - Zhezkazgan - Karaganda - Temirtau - Nur-Sultan route.
