Uzbekistan implements II stage of ADB-funded energy project

The Ministry of Energy and “National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan” continues work on implementation of a project, with the participation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to build an electric network (220 kV) from the Takhiatash thermal power station through the Khorezm substation to the village of Sarima, Trend reports citing the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy.

Currently, the active phase of the II stage of the project is ongoing, within which 75 reinforced concrete supports have already been installed, 43 supports are assembled and ready for installation.

It should be noted that ADB borrowed funds will be spent on the purchase of modern equipment and the necessary installations for the substation and power lines. Since the start of construction, ADB has allocated $9.9 million. Ministry of Energy and “National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan” JSC has invested $2.94 million, reads the message.

Over 300 professional engineers are involved in construction and installation work.

In total, 498 poles, aerial power networks (220 kV) with a length of 145 km have already been installed, for which six contractors and 95 units of special equipment were involved.

To speed up the work, “National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan” JSC attracted 100 workers and employees from the branches of main power grids to the construction and installation works on this project.

Implementation of this project will serve as a guaranteed supply of electricity to residents living in the Khorezm region and on the territory of Karakalpakstan’s Republic, social facilities, small and medium-sized businesses and industrial enterprises, reads the message.
