Iran eyes to increase oil production at North Yaran field

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 9

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran will install and commission 10 well pumps to increase production at Iran-Iraq joint North Yaran oil field, said Mohammad-Ali Ajdari, the North Yaran oilfield development project manager, at a meeting regarding increasing oil production at the field, Trend reports referring to the website of the Iranian Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC).

Ajdari said that the operation on the production increase will be completed by mid-September next year.

The project manager added that 14,500 barrels of oil are extracted daily from the field.

“With the installation and commissioning of 10 well pumps, oil extraction will grow by about 6,000 barrels per day,” Ajdari noted.

Iran’s North Yaran oilfield development project was launched November 2016 with daily production capacity of 30,000 barrels. But after a while, production declined. It is planned to use well pumps to increase production. Although the first pump was installed in July last year, production didn’t increase due to a number of problems.

In August this year, a pump at the well No.4 of the oilfield was installed at a depth of 2,300 meters, resulting in daily production increase by 1,000 barrels of oil.
