Some 95 percent of gas pollutants are collected at the plants of Iran’s Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company in Khuzestan province, said Gholamreza Mofidi, managing director of Karoon Oil and Gas Production Company, at the 11th Khuzestan Specialized Exhibition of Domestic Manufacturing of Petroleum and Drilling Industry Equipment, Trend reports referring to Shana news agency.
Mofidi said that $1 billion has been spent so far to collect gas pollutants.
The managing director added that 80,000 barrels of waste per day are injected into the wells at the company, and with the start of a number of projects, processing of waste has begun.
Mofidi noted that gas flare of about 20 million cubic foot (about 566,000 cubic meters) is prevented at Ahvaz plants No. 2 and No. 3 daily.
So far, with the support of the company, 500 types of equipment worth 54 billion rials (about $1.2 million) have been produced so far, the managing director said, adding that these types of equipment included mainly pumps, compressors and conveyor belts.
Mofidi noted that since the beginning of last Iranian year (March 21, 2018), equipment worth nearly 500 billion rials (approximately $11.9 million) has been purchased from domestic manufacturers.
The 11th Khuzestan Specialized Exhibition of Domestic Manufacturing of Petroleum and Drilling Industry Equipment opened in Ahvaz city with the participation of 260 companies on Dec. 13 and will last until Dec. 16.
