A 100-megawatt solar power plant will be built in Marand county of Iran’s western East Azerbaijan province, deputy governor of Marand county Massoud Shukrani said, Trend reports referring to the website of the governor's office.
“Some 200 hectares of land will be allotted for this purpose in the Qirmizi Gishlak settlement,” deputy governor added.
Shukrani added that 150 million euros will be invested in the project.
The deputy governor said the 100-megawatt solar power station will play an important role in the electricity supply, especially in the industrial facilities, in the county.
“Marand county has great potential in the creation of renewable energy power plants and therefore the relevant authorities must work to simplify the issuance of licenses,” deputy governor said.
Some 250,000 people live in Marand county which is located 70 km northwest of Tabriz.
